How do I get one of those other front panels?

We now have a selection of front panels available for add-ons. The front panels are:

  • USB 2.0 front panel
  • BNC front panel
  • Binding post front panel

When you complete your backer survey, you will have the opportunity to select add-on items including the front panels. Add any desired front panel to your cart, and BackerKit will collect the payment difference at the end of the survey.

I live in the EU but I want to pay VAT/import duties myself or I am buying for my company that is exempt from VAT. What do I do?

The Joulescope campaign is EU friendly and can collect VAT to minimize your hassle. If you want us to collect VAT, ensure that you add the “Joulescope EU VAT” add-on to your cart. If your Kickstarter pledge included VAT, you will find that the “Joulescope EU VAT” add-on is already in your cart. If you did not include EU shipping with VAT, you can still add and pay for the VAT add-on later in this survey. All orders with the “Joulescope EU VAT” add-on will be imported into the EU in bulk and then shipped to you from within the EU.

If you do not want us to collect VAT, simply ensure that the VAT add-on is not in your cart. You will be responsible for all import duties, import taxes, and fees. Your order will ship from the USA using USPS.

What are those three traces in each oscilloscope window?

You see two red traces and one yellow trace. When zoomed out, each x-axis pixel may represent many, many samples, which I’ll call that pixel’s sample “window”. The plot displays the statistics over each pixel. The yellow line is the mean (average). The red lines are the minimum and maximum. Power “glitches”, such as interrupt service routines, are very interesting for energy optimization. The minimum and maximum ensure that you do not miss these events, even when very zoomed out. When you eventually zoom in far enough, 1 pixel becomes 1 sample, and the minimum and the maximum are the same as the average. Many sound editors have similar behavior to show the sound waveform. However, they usually only show a line from max to min since the mean is 0. Since the mean is often very important for Joulescope, we plot it directly and show the max and min as separate traces.

What front panel comes with Joulescope?

Each Joulescope instrument includes the banana jack front panel as pictured. You do not need additional front panels unless you want them.

What is the difference between banana jack front panel and the binding post front panel?

Both connectors support banana plug cables. The banana jack front panel also includes the safety shroud so that you can use standard multimeter probes. The binding post front panel twists open and allows you to insert up to 12 gauge copper wire.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
